OvoControl P, featuring the active ingredient nicarbazin at 0.5 percent, represents a contraceptive for pigeons and other pest birds. Affectionally known as “Planned Pigeonhood,” OvoControl interferes with egg fertilization and allows the flock to decline through natural attrition. There are no dead or dying birds to worry customers. Dispensed once daily with an automatic feeder, once operational, the program requires just a once-a-month service. OvoControl is approved as a general-use pesticide in all 50 states.
On Sept. 23, 2024, its manufacturer, Innolytics, announced that the Pest Management Regulatory Agency in Canada (PMRA) recently approved new labeling for OvoControl P (Reg #32670 PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS ACT). The label revision provides additional flexibility where mechanical feeders can be placed.
Previously, the label required application areas limited to where “….the bait CAN ONLY be placed in secured locations with limited public access…” The new label is far more pigeon-friendly and allows applicators to choose locations where pigeons normally gather.
This new flexibility will allow placement of the new, ground-based mechanical Urban Feeder in areas where they were previously limited. The feeder is ideal for dense urban areas where a rooftop feeder is not necessarily practical. The Urban Feeder has been used successfully in Europe for more than a decade under similar conditions.
The revised label for Canada is available in both English and French at OvoControl.com/labels-registrations. Prior to any use, review the entire label and follow all directions.
Similar to commercial pet food, OvoControl P is produced in an animal feed manufacturing plant in the USA. The product is made with state-of-the-art extrusion equipment in a facility inspected by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. All production follows strict Quality Assurance and Quality Control protocols, consistent with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
