When dealing with Indianmeal moth (IMM, Plodia interpunctella) infestations at accounts, remember that pheromone monitoring systems are just monitors for the adult male only. On average, up to 20 percent of an IMM generation are adult males; that means eggs, larvae, pupae and adult females are not attracted to pheromone monitoring systems. Pheromone monitoring systems serve three main functions:
- Detecting a pest.
- Determining the abundance of a pest.
- Verifying a corrective action.
