PPMA rallies industry for Termite Awareness Week

Termites are among the most destructive and costly pests threatening American homes and businesses, and they operate almost entirely out of sight. With warmer temperatures on the horizon and the threat of termite activity intensifying, the Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), which drives demand for professional services through innovative marketing programs, is calling on pest control companies nationwide to spread the word during Termite Awareness Week, taking place March 1–7, 2026.

Termites cause an estimated $6.8 billion in property damage each year in the United States, and these costs are rarely covered by homeowners’ insurance. Despite the enormous financial risk they pose, many homeowners remain unaware of the warning signs of an infestation until significant structural damage has already occurred. Termite Awareness Week exists to change that, and the Alliance is, urging every corner of the pest control industry to use this moment to educate, engage and empower consumers.

“Termites don’t announce themselves – they work silently and relentlessly. By the time homeowners notice the damage, the cost of repairs can be devastating,” said Alliance Executive Director Jim Fredericks, in a news release. “Termite Awareness Week is one of our most important annual opportunities to put this issue front and center. We’re urging every corner of the pest control industry to use this moment to educate, engage and help homeowners understand that professional termite protection is not an expense, it’s an investment.”

The Alliance is encouraging pest control companies to make the most of Termite Awareness Week by:

  • Sharing termite-focused content across their digital platforms throughout the week and using #TermiteAwarenessWeek to join the broader industry conversation and connect homeowners with useful information.
  • Resharing expert content from @PestWorld on Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube and @PestWorldOfficial on Instagram to extend reach and reinforce consumer education.
  • Accessing the exclusive Termite Awareness Week marketing toolkit available to Mainframe subscribers on AllianceMainframe.org, which includes a customizable press release, social media posts, infographics, high-resolution images, video content and more.

“When we come together around initiatives like Termite Awareness Week, our impact is multiplied,” said Fredericks. “Each post shared, each homeowner educated, each inspection completed adds up to a stronger, more trusted industry.”
