Atlanta, Ga.-based Arrow Exterminators’ Summer 2018 Internship Program consisted of 13 students who were introduced to all facets of the pest control industry. With backgrounds ranging from high school graduates to college students, the interns worked across several business departments, including Human Resources, Marketing, Training, Customer Care, and more.
“Hiring, training and retaining rock stars is an integral part of our Vision,” says Arrow Chief Human Resources Officer Shay Runion. “Our internship program is designed to provide opportunities to learn about our industry and the various career paths that are available, as well as helping to meet educational and career planning goals. Our interns spend two full days learning all about the unique culture at Arrow Exterminators, as well as about the industry, before they receive their department assignment based on their interests. This was Arrow’s eighth year providing the internship program, and we could not have been happier with the talented group of young professionals — and hope to see them again next summer.”
“My summer with Arrow’s Marketing Department has been a great learning experience,” says Greg Chafin, a recent graduate of Kennesaw State University. “Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and happy to have new team members join the team. Arrow’s focus on family culture was felt from my first day. On a daily basis, I was able to work on projects that had a direct impact on the company. The Arrow Internship program helped me learn how to apply my schooling to the real world and how to work in a professional setting. The skills and lessons I learned and refined during my internship will last a lifetime, and I am proud to be a member of the Arrow Family.”
“My experience with Arrow has been awesome,” says Ushma Patel, a senior at Georgia Tech. “Everyone in the company has been so welcoming. I get the opportunity to learn from everyone in the Accounting Department every day while still having a lot of fun.”
“During my internship this summer, never did I feel like just an intern or another worker bee,” says Jessica Edenfield, a recent graduate of Kennesaw State University. “It truly did feel like a family atmosphere as soon as I started. I had the pleasure of working with the HR team with recruiting and on-boarding new team members, and am now excited to continue with the team full-time as their Recruiting Coordinator. It truly has been such an amazing learning experience this summer, with such incredible people. I hope many others get the same opportunity that I have.”
“Our commitment to training and professional career development through Arrow University cannot be understated,” Runion concludes. “We understand the tremendous value of investing in these talented individuals at a young age. They get to see what a dynamic industry we all work in, and will hopefully choose to begin their careers with us when they are ready.”
