Honey festival brings together PMPs and pollinators

U.S. Pest Protection is taking the lead in protecting pollinators in Tennessee.

The company is sponsoring the second-annual Tennessee Honey Festival, which will take place on Sept. 7 at Memorial Park in Hendersonville, Tenn.

Erica Brister, president of U.S. Pest Protection, created the festival because she believed the pest control industry needed to establish higher standards for protecting pollinators.

“Our company is creating a bond of trust between two industries that have typically lacked communication and cooperation,” says Brister. “We are creating a blueprint for how the bee industry and the pest control industry can work together to save our pollinators.”

The inaugural Tennessee Honey Festival in September 2018 attracted more than 10,000 attendees and 100 event vendors dedicated to bringing awareness to the honey bee. The festival has garnered attention across the country for bringing together honey lovers and beekeepers to raise public awareness about protecting honey bees.

Premiering at this year’s event will be an interactive mobile bee yard experience. This educational tool contains bees in a screened-in trailer, allowing curious students to observe live bees up close.

The festival will spotlight state apiary leaders, honey industry leaders, beekeeping enthusiasts and a local honey contest, and will feature live entertainment and interactive art stations. Visitors will also find local honey vendors from all around Tennessee offering local bee pollen, honey and comb.

“We protect what matters most, and as confident leaders in the pest control industry, we are raising the bar and setting the standards high by taking initiatives to save our honey bees,” says Brister.
