The Indiana Pest Management Association (IPMA) recently held its 2021 Summer Meeting in person after canceling last year’s event because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Pest management professionals (PMPs) gathered at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bloomington, Ind., July 16-17, for educational sessions, training and an auction to raise scholarship funds.
Presenters of the educational sessions included Pest Management Professional Hall of Famer (Class of 2008) Dr. Bobby Corrigan, president, RMC Pest Management Consulting; Gene White, global director of vector management, Rentokil; and David Scott, pesticide program administrator, Office of Indiana State Chemist.
In addition, the IPMA conducted its annual business meeting and election. Outgoing President Joe Long of Ace Pest Control welcomed new President Scott Wright, Arab Termite and Pest Control; Vice President Carrie Campbell, Hatfield Pest Control; and newly elected board member Gene Hilger, Hilger Enterprises.
To cap off the weekend, IPMA members and their families enjoyed a traditional banquet and live auction that raised $4,000 for student scholarships.
Corporate sponsors included Veseris, Pest Management Supply, Target Specialty Products, Bell Labs, Catchmaster and BASF.
The IPMA’s next meeting is slated for Sept. 23, at which time members will vote on a plan of reorganization for the association. The meeting will be held virtually.
The IPMA is a not-for-profit organization that promotes education and training for those in the pest control industry. Each year, the IPMA provides scholarships to students attending an institute of higher learning.
