Pest Management Professional columnist Pete Schopen, owner of Schopen Pest Solutions, reports the following:
Over 140 pest professionals attended the 2023 New Mexico Pest Management Association Conference on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
Board members Alan Feuer, Dixie Mussaw, Teri Cates and others put on an event that featured both business classes as well as entomological courses. The two-day conference was hosted at the Central New Mexico Community College and featured a keynote speech by Pete Schopen on company culture.
Alan Fugler gave a business lecture on service agreements and contracts while also delving into pesticide safety. Many top pest industries presenters were in Albuquerque, including Daniel Dye on insect identification and morphology and Harry Bryan on small flies. Dr. Jeffrey Tucker gave an in-depth talk on phorid flies and Feuer spoke on wood weevils.
Mussaw said she was impressed with the turnout.
“We would always love to see more pest and lawn management professionals in attendance but overall the turnout was good,” Mussaw said. “The speakers exceeded all expectations with the knowledge they shared. They were not only extremely informative but kept everyone engaged. It was truly an unforgettable successful event.”
