Wasps and yellowjackets often bore entrance holes into structures. If you locate one of these entry points in an accessible area, you can greatly reduce the population simply by using glue boards:
- Make a hole in a glue board that is slightly larger than the entry tunnel.
- Attach it, glue-side out, to the structure in the evening so the insects can exit the next day.
- When they return to the nest after foraging, they typically land outside the entrance and walk around it before entering. They get stuck on the sticky surface and quickly pile up, greatly reducing the population.
