ESA launches public health certificate
The Entomological Society of America (ESA) has created the new Public Health Entomology (PHE) certificate.
The PHE certificate program is designed to benefit pest management professionals (PMPs) and vector control professionals, according to the ESA. The certificate provides an opportunity for those who work with pests that pose a health risk; either by being a vector for disease or other adverse health risks.
Any PMP can earn the certificate if they have:
- a minimum of five years of verifiable pest management or vector control experience,
- a current pesticide applicator’s license issued in the U.S.,
- and the ability to pass the exam.
The PHE certificate is endorsed by and was developed in conjunction with the American Mosquito Control Association.
PMPs can also earn certifications through the ESA’s Board Certified Entomologist (BCE) program and Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) program. According to the ESA, more than 1,200 ACEs have joined the ranks to demonstrate their professionalism and commitment to the structural pest management industry.
