Pest management professionals (PMPs) in California will wake up in the new year with fewer rodent control tools in their toolbox now that Assembly Bill 2552, a law that restricts the use of chlorophacinone and warfarin rodenticides, takes effect Jan. 1, 2025. Despite this development, several intelligent solutions from Liphatech Inc. are available to help.
Liphatech’s proprietary TakeDown II products, both soft bait and mini blocks, contain the active ingredient bromethalin, an acute rodenticide for the professional pest control market.
TakeDown II, for example, provides fast results and is effective in fighting anticoagulant-resistant rodent populations, especially those in commercial settings.
• TakeDown II 8-gram soft bait pouches are palatable to rats and mice and maintain integrity in hot environments.
• TakeDown II 14-gram mini blocks are designed with rodent gnawing edges and a center hole for securing on vertical or horizontal rods in bait stations.
Another option, the trademarked IGI Carbon Dioxide (IGI CO₂) Powered by Liphatech, is registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an alternative tool for controlling burrowing rodents in municipal, residential, commercial and field settings. It can even be used next to occupied buildings. CO₂ gas is non-flammable, invisible, odorless and can be applied quietly.
IGI CO₂ is also EPA-approved for commodities insect fumigation in silos, storages, trucks, trailers, sealed railroad cars and cargo ships. It is effective against pests such as beetles, booklice and moths.
Designed to monitor activity, the trademarked NoTox Attractant is also available from Liphatech in both 10-gram soft bait pouches and 20-gram mini blocks. NoTox has no active ingredient and poses no danger to rodent predators or other curious animals.
About Liphatech
With U.S. headquarters based in Milwaukee, Wis., Liphatech is a worldwide manufacturer of pest control products. It is considered to be the developer of three of the industry’s active ingredients: chlorophacinone, bromadiolone and difethialone. The company was founded in France in 1946 io develop anticoagulants for the treatment of heart patients. It developed chlorophacinone in the 1960s and branded it as Rozol, a family of products that includes grain and pelleted products for field and structural use, and a tracking powder for use in and around structures. In the 1970s, Liphatech developed bromadiolone, its original second-generation rodenticide active ingredient.
The innovations continued with the opening of its U.S. facility in 1987. Research there and in Europe resulted in the discovery of difethialone during the late 1980s, with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency registration as an active ingredient in 1995.
