Nearly half of the pest management professionals (PMPs) who answered our 2021 Mosquito Management Survey said residential customers account for half of their mosquito control business (check out our 2021 Mosquito Management Supplement here).
The coronavirus pandemic appears to have had a minimal impact on mosquito management revenue for many, because it is performed outdoors. Several survey respondents experienced an uptick in business because homeowners were spending more time in their yards, and even investing in swimming pools and patios.
A few of the PMPs who took our survey reported heavy rains had a bigger impact than COVID-19, and some said fewer customers required one-time mosquito control work as large outdoor gatherings were canceled or put on hold for the foreseeable future. But overall, customers who were spending more time at home than ever before relied on PMPs to banish biting mosquitoes so they could get out of the house.
We also asked PMP’s experts to weigh in on the most challenging aspect of mosquito control. As you will see, it is not the coronavirus pandemic. Read the expert responses now.
