In an industry where a majority of partners are out in the field day in and day out, many pest control companies work hard to recognize achievements of all levels. From personally showing partners how well-respected they are for that they do to helping retain that partner because of the personal feelings recognition generates, there is little doubt of the importance of recognizing partners for their accomplishments in any industry, let alone pest control.
In fact, each spring, Truly Nolen has a time-honored tradition of recognizing our top performers with our Presidents Club trip. This annual celebration all started in New Orleans with our founder (my father) Truly D. Nolen and just a few top sales partners to thank them for their great accomplishments. Over the years, the trip has grown to include top technicians, managers, district managers, a few honored guests and their spouses! We have united in Las Vegas, Key West, Mexico and the Bahamas. This year brings us to Westgate River Ranch in Central Florida (east of Tampa and south of Orlando), and the festivities include a private rodeo complete with barrel racing, lasso tricks and bull riding. Regardless of where we go, the spirit of the trip remains — to thank our partners and their family members for their exceptional commitment and dedication to servicing our customers! The Presidents Club Trip, with great achievement, is just one avenue through which we recognize our partners.
Just as important as the grand sales achievements are to be honored, so are the lesser seen actions that truly make up an organization, no pun intended. In 2020, I established the Yellow Standard. This concept was a nod to the Gold Standards implemented in the Ritz Carlton service culture. The Yellow Standard is a symbol of exceptional service to strive for with internal as well as external partners. This concept has permeated throughout our company! In efforts to recognize those who are exemplifying the Yellow Standard, I gift a yellow golden medallion. The key to this honor is that any partner can receive this award anytime, and be nominated by anyone. The intent is to foster a culture of not only exceptional service, but recognition for the efforts and impact our partners provide to lives inside the organization as well as outside.
Whether it is a simple thank you, a medallion of exception, or fabulous trip, recognition to the team that comprises the company is essential. Every human wants to be recognized. Countless award shows on television and professional organizations throughout daily life showcase that desire. Therefore, I cannot stress enough how much camaraderie you can build as a company when you provide your team members with multiple avenues to achieve recognition.
