Axiom receives BBB Torch Award

Axiom Eco-Pest Control earned the 2019 Better Business Bureau (BBB) Oregon Business of the Year Torch Award from the BBB Northwest-Pacific chapter. The recognition honors organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to building trust and integrity with their customers, fellow business owners and communities.

“What a major accomplishment this is for our team and customers,” says Ben Kennard, Axiom president and CEO. “As a company, we always want to do the right thing. And as amazing as awards like this are, more than anything, they validate we’re going in the right direction.”

Part of the criteria for winning the BBB Torch Award includes community involvement. In June, the company celebrated National Mosquito Control Awareness Week by hosting a successful blood drive with the American Red Cross and Clackamas County Vector Control District. Through these efforts, more people became aware of the dangers mosquitoes pose to humans and ways to protect themselves from insect bites, while also providing badly needed blood for trauma patients.

From September to November, Axiom is undertaking a sock and underwear drive. The company is partnering with the charities JOIN in Portland, Ore., and Restoration Outreach Programs in Denver, Colo., to collect socks and underwear for those transitioning from homelessness. Axiom is holding weekend sock and underwear donation events throughout Portland and Denver to help fulfill the charities’ needs for the upcoming winter.

“Giving back is one of our core values,” Kennard adds. “It feels great to be able to help the communities who have given so much to us.”

In presenting the award to Axiom employees, BBB Market Manager Danielle Kane said, “We could not be more excited that a company so representative of Portland and its eco-friendly culture not only entered the BBB Torch Awards but won. Axiom is a true leader in the industry. How? They give their customers peace of mind during a time when most are feeling pretty uneasy. They are experts in their arena.”

This is the first time Axiom has received the BBB Torch Award, although the company was chosen as a finalist in 2018 and 2017.

Founded in 2008 in Milwaukie, Ore., Axiom Eco-Pest Control offers both residential and commercial services in the Portland and Denver metropolitan areas.
