Jacksonville, Fla.-based Turner Pest Control, an Anticimex company, is doing a few different things to commemorate October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
• At the start of the month, Turner distributed T-shirts for office staff, and buttons and pink shoe covers to all field staff to wear throughout October.
• On Oct. 16, the company hosted its corporate Pink Out Day to “show our support and help spread awareness throughout our community,” notes Director of Marketing Stacy McKinney.
• Turner continues its support of the local DONNA Foundation by donating, volunteering and event participation.
“Turner is proud to continue our long history of supporting Breast Cancer Awareness, patients and their families,” McKinney tells PMP. “This year, the sister of one of our longtime employees was diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing a double mastectomy soon. We immediately came together as a company to support them both with donations and a gift basket.”
Founded in 1971, Turner Pest Control is considered to be one of the fastest-growing companies in Florida and South Georgia. It’s also certified as a QualityPro company, a distinction earned by less than 3 percent of U.S. pest control providers. Turner provides pest control, termite prevention, lawn services and bed bug elimination services, as well as its exclusive TurnerGuard all-in-one pest and termite prevention solution.
ABOUT THE DONNA FOUNDATION
Named after founder and three-time breast cancer survivor Donna Deegan, since 2006 the DONNA Foundation has organized and produced the only national marathon dedicated to finish breast cancer. It is also a partner in the Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Translational Genomics Program. In February 2008, the 26.2 with DONNA Marathon saw its inaugural year host nearly 7,000 runners and raise more than $825,000.
In 2015, Mayo Clinic announced the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Vaccine Trials, a project made possible in part by The DONNA Foundation. The laboratory team was not only to conduct state-of-the-art breast cancer research, but also provide genomics support for studies in all cancers.
In 2019, the DONNA Foundation continues to grow and assist underserved families. It participates in a variety of fundraising events, community outreach and education programs. It has dispersed more than $5 million of debt relief and served more than 12,000 families in need — and counting.
