The Alabama chapter of Professional Women in Pest Management (PWIPM) recently raised awareness and funds for the chapter at the Alabama Pest Control Association (APCA) Winter Conference in Auburn, Ala., on Feb. 3.
Scott Burke, of Oldham Chemical Co., donated a B&G sprayer with pink covers to be raffled off to support the chapter.
With the support of the APCA membership, the PWIPM of Alabama raised more than $1,000 for the chapter.
“Participating in the Alabama Pest Control Association’s Winter Conference is a great way to raise awareness of our chapter and to showcase the strength of women in the industry. This was our third year having a booth at the conference, and this year, some of the men supporting women in the industry worked the booth,” said Faye Golden, director of governmental affairs for Cook’s Pest Control in Decatur, Ala., and co-chair of the PWIPM of Alabama. Golden is also secretary of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA).

The Professional Women in Pest Management, of which PWIPM of Alabama is a chapter, is an affiliate group of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) whose mission is to attract, develop and support women in the pest management industry through educational programs, resources and peer networking.

The association’s mission was to train this industry in pest control chemicals and the techniques in which they were used.
