We asked Pest Management Professional’s columnists and editorial advisory board members for some good options for add-on services that PMPs can start offering or enhancing this year. Here are some of their responses from our March 2025 print edition.

Michael Broder
Greg Baumann: “Rather than quickly picking an add-on service, decide whether your current techs will handle the new business. If you are a 14-stop-per-day company, the time spent will have to be quick. If you want to add specialized staff, you become more flexible. Only then should you pick an add-on service.”
Michael Broder: “Provide a detailed inspection and audit to report on all potential pest-conducive conditions. This can help prevent future pest issues as the weather warms up.”
Foster Brusca: “Offering additional services that regularly bring a service technician inside the home can enhance service value and strengthen long-term customer relationships. Add-ons like pheromone and bed bug monitoring are excellent upsell opportunities that any technician can confidently present to their existing customers, boosting service effectiveness and customer retention.”

Dr. Faith Oi
Dr. Faith Oi: “I recommend exclusion for rodents and other pest issues.”
Glen Ramsey: “Minor exclusion work. Door sweeps, sealing around entry points, and screening crawlspace vents are easy entries into a new revenue stream with little upfront cost or training.”
Sheri Spencer Bachman, ACE: “When considering an add-on service for your pest control company, it’s crucial to weigh the pros and cons — especially when deciding between recurring and non-recurring services. Recurring services contribute to predictable revenue and business growth, whereas non-recurring services can bring in additional income but may not support long-term scalability.”

Desiree Straubinger, BCE
Desiree Straubinger, BCE: “Mosquito, flea and tick treatments are a great way to add additional revenue to an existing contract. You’re already visiting the home or business, so no additional drive time is required.”
Dennis Jenkins: “While most everyone in the pest control industry offers rodent control, doing exclusion work is not quite as common. Using baits and traps is a great way to reduce rodent populations, but in some cases the rodent population will build again as rodents invade again. For example, some folks live near open fields or near lakes, and the rodent pressure is almost constant. In those cases, excluding the rodents using various barriers, and closing entry points is a great service to offer customers. It is also a great service when the pest pressure slows in the late fall and winter. Exclusion takes materials and skills that may be somewhat different depending on the area of the country you live in, but you can learn those skills and add this service to your current offerings. Also, if you are new to dealing with fire ants and they are in your service area, it is a two-step process: treat the mounds and treat the grounds. This is very easy to add to regular services and increases the average dollars per stop, which makes it a better paying job for both your technician and your company. An interesting fact for those who are new to fire ants is fire ants bite and sting, which is why they are so painful!”
