Pi Chi Omega, the professional fraternity for the structural pest control industry, hit the ground running on Jan. 14. That’s the day it hosted two simultaneous events in Athens, Ga., and West Lafayette, Ind.
While the Purdue Pest Management Conference has been Pi Chi Omega’s winter meeting home since its founding there in 1950, the organization has begun rotating among other industry events to “meet its members where they are.”
This year, Pi Chi Omega paired its winter membership meeting and a Raise the Bar social event with the Georgia Pest Control Association (GPCA) Winter Conference, giving leadership a chance to connect with Southern-based members and introduce many new pest management professionals (PMPs) to the organization.
Meanwhile, the fraternity kept its winter tradition alive with another Raise the Bar social event during the Purdue Pest Management Conference. (Visit here for more coverage of the Purdue conference)
Both events featured a friendly competition: a 50/50 raffle fundraiser to support Pi Chi Omega initiatives, including academic scholarships and industry grants. The GPCA team raised $1,140, while Purdue collected $940 — until Purdue’s raffle winner donated $180 back to the cause, giving them the edge. Final totals were $570 raised at GPCA and $650 at Purdue.
Pi Chi Omega gives a big thanks to the GPCA event sponsors — Envu, Sprague Pest Solutions, J.T. Eaton and RJM Contracting — and Dale Baker, Tom Mueller and J.T. Eaton for making the Purdue event a success. Together, everyone connected, enriched and had a great time. Pi Chi Omega’s next meeting will take place during the National Pest Management Association’s PestWorld 2025 event in Orlando, Fla., in October.

Trio of talent: As is Raise the Bar tradition, James Miller, ACE, director of PCO global sales for Trécé Inc. and president-elect of Pi Chi Omega, offered his armspan to measure “an arm’s length” of raffle tickets for sale.
