Professional Women in Pest Management of New England recognized Hope Bowman, BCE, with its third annual Women of Excellence Award.

Bowman works at Waltham Pest Services, headquartered in Natick, Mass., as the technical, training and quality manager covering the New England market.

Before working at Waltham Pest Services, Bowman was an entomologist at Western Pest Services in the Mid-Atlantic region, providing technical support, aiding in problem solving and insect identification, promoting quality service and making integrated pest management recommendations to customers.

She was with Western Pest Services for 14 years prior to joining Waltham Pest Services in 2019.

Bowman completed her master of science degree at North Carolina State University in 2005 and her bachelor of arts in biology in 2001 at Connecticut College. She is a Board-Certified Entomologist and has been on the Board of the Eastern Division of the Pennsylvania Pest Management Association and the New England Pest Management Association.

She is also a member of Pi Chi Omega, the pest management industry’s business fraternity, which provides scholarships for those interested in careers in pest control and entomology.

Bowman’s focus on education and training is seen far beyond the pest control industry. She volunteers as an English as a second language tutor for the Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford. She also helped created the Waltham Services Academy, an education-based program meant to teach the community about how to avoid mosquitoes and ticks, and the diseases they transmit.

Her nominator, Waltham Services Region Manager Christian Weppert, wrote, “Hope is a great asset to the industry. She is focused on helping employees and customers improve their skills and knowledge. She has a positive attitude that rubs off on everyone around her and makes pest control an interesting and rewarding experience for everyone she interacts with. She has become a go-to person not only for our employees, but for customers and other pest control providers and always makes time for those who need her. She has truly earned the reputation as one of the most respected, accomplished, and influential women in our industry.”
