The merry widows

In the June 2003 issue, Dr. Hanif Gulmahamad wrote an article about brown widow spiders (Latrodectus geometricus) and western black widow spiders (L. hesperus). At the time, he was the integrated pest management (IPM) coordinator for the Los Angeles Unified School District in California. These days, he works as an industry consultant and still writes occasionally for the magazine. The original caption of this photo he submitted with the story states: “Vacuuming is no easy task in a cluttered classroom, but it’s a vital component of a good spider management program.”

Replace or reinvest?

In the August 2003 issue, Jim Harmon, a contributing writer for what was then known as Pest Control magazine, provided an overview about how “fleet decisions can impact your bottom line in many ways.” His article offers pointers that still resonate today for companies reviewing their fleet status. The art concept was designed by then-Senior Graphic Designer Joseph Kalinowski.

Check out the full version of these articles from PMP magazine in June and August 2003.
