Neighborly awards top franchise owner of Mosquito Joe

Neighborly recently awarded its top-performing franchise owners of 2022, which include Trey Powell, a franchise owner of Mosquito Joe.

The awards were announced during the 42nd annual Reunion conference in October in Denver, Colo., with more than 3,500 in attendance.

One nomination for Powell explained that “Trey Powell is the kind of small business owner you want your kids to work for. First and foremost, he is dedicated to his family, his wife, Cindy, and three daughters. A close second is his passion for franchising and his Mosquito Joe business. He’s passionate, enthusiastic, an expert in his field, selfless and sagacious. In short, he loves franchising.”

Powell currently owns two Mosquito Joe locations in Lake Murray, S.C., and Augusta, Ga., but has been an entrepreneur since his late teens. According to the news release, he “first caught the entrepreneurial ‘bug’ his freshman year of college where he found success selling Cutco knives, moving quickly from salesman to branch manager where he trained hundreds of his college peers on how to sell Cutco products.”

Powell has been part of the initial on-boarding training for all Mosquito Joe owners since 2015 and has served on Mosquito Joe’s Franchise Advisory Council after being selected by his peers since 2021.

Outside the office, Powell and his wife support the Make-A-Wish foundation. Over the past two years, from January through April, they helped organize the Trailblaze Challenge, a 28-mile hike that raises money for the foundation, with proceeds guaranteed to stay in South Carolina and support local children’s wishes. Under Powell’s leadership, the Columbia, S.C, Business Network International (BNI) team raised a record-setting $500,000, and have set a goal to surpass that and reach $1 million.
