There’s always more than meets the eye when it comes to ants. Once you’ve seen a few, there are more on the way. That’s why ants are such a common culprit for callbacks and reinfestations.

When dealing with ants, bring the customer in on your treatment plan. When customers are informed on best practices for integrated pest management (IPM), not only will it make treatment more effective — it will make future problems less likely. Two big tips to share with customers include:

  • Keep spaces clean and free from clutter, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Make sure the perimeter is sealed, and that there aren’t any small gaps in windows or doorways.

Keeping a close eye on kitchen spaces and areas ants will be attracted to is also vital for early detection. Remember, ants are seeking the same things we are during the winter months: food, warmth and shelter. Sharing “tips and tricks” with your customers is the best way to ensure your plan of attack is effective.
