What do a 13-foot hearse and a 7-foot faux dead termite have in common? Both traveled across the nation to communicate the importance of termite awareness to homeowners and provide Certified Sentricon Specialists (CSSs) with a platform to serve the communities they represent. In less than six weeks, the Sentricon System Deader Than Dead Tour visited eight major CSSs, traveled through 22 states, interviewed eight homeowners and participated in countless community service initiatives during the height of termite swarm season.
During the first stop at Pine Lakes Country Club in Florida, the tour worked with CSS Fort Myers Pest Control to host an educational “snowbird” seminar dedicated to vacation residents who are non-native to the South and may not be aware of the threat termites pose. After showing attendees photos of termite-compromised properties and samples of damaged wood, the Fort Myers Pest Control team met with snowbird Blaine who had the Sentricon system installed to combat a termite infestation that resulted in $20,000 in property damage.
“It’s crazy that something so tiny could create such havoc,” Blaine said. “The day they solved my termite problem was probably the third best day of my life — after my marriage and the birth of my children.”
At the next stop, tour worked with ABC Home & Commercial Services in Houston, Texas, to host a community barbecue and provide a charitable installation of the Sentricon system for a homeowner impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Water damage from the storm exposed previous termite damage, which had damaged much of the home.
“[ABC Home & Commercial] came and talked to me and told me they’d help get rid of the termites and preserve our house, and I’m very thankful for that,” said homeowner Betty.

Then, the tour headed to Oklahoma, where the Sentricon team met with Mother Nature’s Pest and Lawn to provide another donation of the Sentricon system. This time, the recipient was Jeff of Grace Home, a community center dedicated to providing resources for young single mothers in need of shelter and financial support.
“[Sentricon] being the No. 1-rated company speaks volumes to their credibility,” Jeff said. “It’s nice to know we’re protected as we do our ministry work here in the home.”
In Greenville, S.C., Spencer Pest Services used the Deader Than Dead Tour platform to donate a check to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The donation was another step toward fulfilling Spencer’s mission of providing “Pest Control For A Cure,” a coordinated effort pioneered by CSS Sheri Spencer that aims to provide pest control support and funds for breast cancer research in the Greenville community.
On its penultimate stop, the termite hearse — nicknamed the Coroner’s Caddy — rolled into the heart of Nashville, Tenn. While there, All-American Pest Control drove out to designate the recipient of its honorary community service medal, the Hometown Hero Award, to a local educator and football coach. The award came with a nice gift, too: a charitable installation of the Sentricon system around the coach’s home.

Finally, the tour closed out in Monroe, Conn., where ABC Exterminating hosted a community cookout and donated funds and labor to the reconstruction of a community playground for the Monroe Kids Kreation Club. The playground, made entirely of wood, will be replaced by a termite-proof structure that is safe for children to use.
In the end, the Sentricon System Deader Than Dead Tour connected with countless homeowners, community members and termite specialists. It provided a platform for CSSs to give back to the communities they serve and educate them about the value of termite protection. Through charitable installations, seminars, cookouts and award services, the tour didn’t just protect homes with the Sentricon system — it helped create a national community dedicated to social responsibility in the name of pest management and termite control.
