Small flies — fruit flies, phorid flies and drain flies — are a sanitation pest that can be challenging to control, given their ability to multiply quickly when their food sources and breeding sites are available. A successful integrated pest management (IPM) program will include sanitation measures that address organic build-up and chronic moisture problems. Measures such as cleaning up food and drink spills and rinsing beverage containers before placing them into lined recycling bins can help prevent these pests.

In areas with chronic moisture and organic build-up, using bio-sanitation products is an effective way to clean and eliminate conducive conditions. These products use powerful microbes to digest organic matter and eliminate odors. Focus applications on areas where food residues accumulate, such as underneath prep counters, around kitchen equipment or within fixtures, drains, beverage taps, feed lines and trash receptacles.
