It’s important to get effective control of stinging insects in late summer to help prevent populations in the fall. The first step we always recommend is to test all equipment beforehand, to avoid something going wrong mid-treatment.

Next, locate the nests, typically up high in the soffits of homes or eaves of buildings. To ensure minimal nest activity, plan to treat early in the morning or very late afternoon.

Exceptionally large nests may require an overnight treatment. Make sure all nearby light sources are turned off beforehand, as they will attract the pests.

Finally, after treatment, make sure that food sources are limited for stinging insects. This includes keeping garbage receptacles clean and tightly lidded. It also includes perimeter control of crawling insects, a main source of food for stinging pests.
