Schenectady, N.Y.-based Thomas Pest Services is participating in Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month this March.

According to the news release, Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month holds “a special significance for Thomas Pest Services, as it resonates personally with the company’s founders, Bill Clark and Sarah Thomas-Clark, as well as with some members of the team.” Their dedication to raising awareness stems from personal experiences when their daughter, Riley, was diagnosed at one-and-a-half years old with mild right-side spastic hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy.

Throughout March, the entire team at Thomas Pest Services will engage in various awareness campaigns, including wearing green attire and participating in community activities. Thomas Pest Services also seeks to collaborate with like-minded organizations to maximize its impact in supporting individuals and families affected by cerebral palsy.

As part of its efforts, Thomas Pest Services will be fundraising on its Facebook page for Jake’s Help from Heaven, a non-profit organization located in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with complex medical needs and disabilities. Additionally, the company will donate $10 for every residential Complete Care Program sold and create a GoFundMe page for employees to contribute.

Supporting Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month is just one of the ways we fulfill this commitment. The recipients for the company’s fundraising efforts include:

  • A 39-year-old woman in need of a repair for her stair lift, which allows her to move safely around her home and access all floors.
  • A 26-year-old wheelchair-bound individual seeking a hand-control lift to foster independence.
  • A 6-year-old boy looking for a special sitter with a mobile base, allowing him to sit comfortably and safely outside his wheelchair, participate in family activities, and engage more in the community.
  • A 7-year-old in need of an Inspired by Drive Trotter stroller, providing a lighter and easier-to-transfer option for his mother to take him out in the community and to appointments.

Sarah Thomas-Clark, co-founder of Thomas Pest Services, said in the news release that the company’s commitment to supporting individuals affected by cerebral palsy, including those served by Jake’s Help from Heaven.

“We aim to create a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals living with cerebral palsy within our community,” Thomas-Clark said, emphasizing their goal is to raise awareness and educate about the condition.”
