Syngenta donates to Pi Chi Omega scholarhships

Syngenta presented its annual scholarship donation to Pi Chi Omega during National Pest Management Association’s (NPMA’s) Legislative Day in Washington, D.C.

Immediate Past President Dr. Cassie Krejci, BCE, accepted the contribution of $4,500 from Berry Cothern, Syngenta’s representative.

This donation serves to help Pi Chi Omega’s efforts in providing scholarship funds and research support to students pursuing studies in urban entomology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

“As past chair of the scholarship committee, I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support shown by Syngenta,” Desiree Straubinger, BCE, president of Pi Chi Omega, said in the news release.”Over the years, Syngenta’s consistent commitment to matching previous contributions has been instrumental in sustaining Pi Chi Omega’s strategic goal of providing educational opportunities for students in urban entomology. Their partnership has enabled us to award scholarships to deserving individuals who demonstrate exceptional promise and dedication to advancing our industry.”

“We have dedicated a significant part of our giving program to Pi Chi Omega because we recognize the long-term impact of the Pi Chi Omega scholarship program,” Berry Cothern, district manager for professional pest management at Syngenta, North America, added.

Over nearly five decades, Pi Chi Omega’s scholarship initiatives have funded the studies of numerous entomology students, resulting in 149 individuals whose scientific research and commitment to our industry have significantly influenced pest management practices. Many recipients have gone on to become esteemed members of the structural pest management industry.

Pi Chi Omega’s scholarship program allocates five $2,000 scholarships and one $3,000 scholarship annually to deserving entomology students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs at universities.
