In the past decade, Pelgar USA has introduced many new and innovative products globally of the classic chemical variety. In the past three years, however, our focus has been to broaden the types of products we offer while continuing to innovate. This is where our new lines of rodent bait stations come in. We believe the Vanguard Heavy and the Alert stations specifically will set new standards for weighted and tunnel stations, respectively. We are particularly proud of the fact that the Vanguard Heavy is 100 percent recycled and 100 percent made in the United Kingdom, still the home base for PelGar.
We have combined these stations with another new product, our Roban Gold Entrap monitoring gels (pictured). Available in four flavors — amaretto, apple, peanut butter and vanilla — these gels are synthetic to remove allergen risk. They are the ideal tools to use in our new bait stations and snap traps.
Looking ahead, PelGar has been working on eco-friendly insecticide products, and we are going to bring these to market soon. Our innovations are focused on expanding our market offerings.
PREDICTIONS: The rodent sector is going to see a wholesale change in product use and availability in the next five years. PMPs will need to be able to adapt to new regulations; new continuing education unit (CEU) testing and product purchasing requirements; and even the way they look at rodent work and the mix of products they use. Better use of non-chemical products to identify target species and the use of low-risk treatment options as a first resort will become key.
I believe the professional segment of rodent control will grow immensely in the next five years, and PMPs who adjust to the changing landscape the fastest will do very well.
