Virginia Pest Management Association’s upcoming workshops to cover occasional invaders, termites

The Virginia Pest Management Association (VPMA) offers extensive training for pest management professionals (PMPs) across the Old Dominion through its Master Technician Series. The program is composed of a series of workshops investigating eight major pest groups: ants, bed bugs, blood-sucking arthropods, cockroaches, occasional invaders, pest flies, rodents and termites. At the completion of each pest group workshop, participants will receive a certificate designating them as a VPMA Master for the pest group they have completed. After completing training in four of these groups, a PMP earns the title of VPMA Master Technician.

Registration is now open for the fall session of the VPMA Master Technician Series, featuring workshops on occasional invaders on Sept. 23 and termites on Sept. 24. The workshops will be held in Hampton Roads, Va. Pest Management Professional Hall of Famer Dr. Dini Miller (Class of 2019) and other experts from the VPMA training team will teach participants to identify pest species using taxonomic keys and state-of-the-art microscopes. The training offers an in-depth exploration of the life stages, characteristics and biology of each pest group, followed by exposure to all viable treatment options and effective application methods. Hands-on training will further equip attendees with the skills needed for successful pest management within each group.
