The Certified Entomologists of Mid-America (CEMA), a chapter of the Entomological Society of America, held its annual meeting earlier in August in Kearney, Mo. Attendees represented all four states within the CEMA region: Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. Additionally, Jae Horn, a student from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, participated in the event.
The event kicked off with a social gathering and dinner, which provided attendees an opportunity for members to reconnect and network. During the meeting, the group also embarked on a tour of the Jesse James Birthplace Museum, where they explored the diverse insect life surrounding the historic site.
CEMA provides a valuable platform for entomologists to connect, collaborate and expand their knowledge. Open to both Associate Certified Entomologists (ACE) and Board Certified Entomologists (BCE) in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa, CEMA features a diverse community of professionals with a wide range of backgrounds, including academia, research and development, product manufacturing, consulting and pest management. (Learn more about CEMA member Dr. Shripat Kamble here).
CEMA also supports the advancement of entomology by sponsoring several awards annually for outstanding extension projects within the Entomological Society’s North Central Branch.
