The team at Patton Termite & Pest Control partnered with the Wichita Animal Action League (WAAL), a non-profit rescue organiation that provides a variety of free services for people’s pets, to provide flea treatments to 25 families in an underprivileged community in Wichita, Kan.

Kylee Wallentine, a pets for life specialist with WAAL, explained that a Wichita-area neighborhood had been hit hard this year with a collection of stubborn pests and needed assistance to help combat the infestation.

“During the summertime, fleas are horrible,” Wallentine said. “We have children out here that are trying to play in their yards and they can’t play without being bitten. I have residents that go to lay in their beds at night and as soon as they lay down, they have fleas jumping all over them.”

WAAL was providing flea and tick medication for animals in the area and reached out to Patton Termite & Pest Control for help with the Planeview neighborhood.

“I did reach out to Patton Termite & Pest Control. They were more than happy to be able to come together as a community and come spray the yards for free,” Wallentine said.

In addition to the service from Patton, industry manufacturers Syngenta Professional Solutions and Control Solutions Inc. chipped in to help the effort by donating some products for the technicians to use for treatment.

The team effort provided the community with a pest control service worth hundreds of dollars at no cost.

“It’s easy to ask someone for monetary donations or a sponsorship. It’s a lot different to be like, ‘Hey, can you come out here?’” Wallentine said.
